This is one of those "just curious" questions.

Why do so many manufactured home builders build their homes with 7 foot sidewalls as opposed to 7 1/2 or 8 feet?

Any thoughts/opinions on this would be appreciated!

Cheaper building materials....It started with concerns for the overall height of the home for transport purposes....8' with 3x12 roofs reach the maximum transport height...Higher increases freight costs by thousands...

I noticed that too as I'm 6' 7" tall. I've been in many mobile homes while looking to buy, mostly single wides, almost all of them are built this way(I'm from western Pa). The only one that had 7.5' walls was a Pinegrove, as I guess they dont cut corners like most other companies. Anyway, that was one of my pet peeves as I dont like to duck going through doorways/hitting my head on light fixtures/ceiling fans.
