Schult Homes Quality Control SUX!!!!!!

When you buy a New Sectional Home, Would you expect to get every thing that is supposed to be in this home? Your Damn Correct it should be,,, Would you buy a new auto and it was supposed to be equipped with a CD player and you did get it , Would you buy another one? Or raise hell untill you got one?
We filed a complaint with BBB with Schult, A dork in Dispute Resolution Specialist Dept ( ROFLMAO) WHOM WOULD NOT AWNSER HIS E MAIL,,,,( E MAIL ME FOR HIS NAME I MAY POST IT LATER ANY WAY,,,,, SAYS ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM WE BUILT THE HOME IT NOT OUR FAULT THE HOME DOES NOT HAVE THE ADD ONS THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THIS HOME,,, THERE FOR CONTACT YOUR SELLER,,,,, NOW IS THIS PASSING THE ALL MIGHTY $$$$$$$$$$$ ITS TOTAL BS BS BS BS!!!!!!!!!!! ATTORNEY GENERAL IS NEXT

I think thats called get in writing same as a car, boat or anything else it is your responsibility to make sure you know what youare getting and making sure it is in writing and signed off on. Why blame a company for something you assume is included is not. If you buy a car do you assume it has leather or do you get it in writing before you pay for it.
Did the brochure say this was standard equipment, if it did than you have a case but most list standard features and the rest is optional.

When you are custom ordering a home there are 2 folks involved in the sale...the manufacturer and the dealer...just as in autos..if the dealer orders all items..the plant build all items...

Only you know what you have in your contract....but if you ordered the car and the dealer did not order a CD player (usually and option)..the manufacturer would not put it in..and never would...if it was a mistake and in your contract the dealer would have to change it out on his pocket...The same goes here for the home...if the icemaker is in your contract..the dealer should be taking care of it...Icemakers are options at almost every plant...and definately at Schult...Decor mirrors in the bath are also usually an option...as a matter of fact the brosures almost always include furniture in the pics...of course the factory never supplies furniture....Most promotional pictures even have people (actors) smiling away in the pics...They also do not come with the home...

the best thing you can do is sit down with the management of the dealer...be nice...if the items are not in your written aggreement..he is not obilgated to do anything...but most dealers would rather spend a few dollars for peace of mind...but..if you are nasty...cussing..threatening...OH WELL..He/She is only human too..

OAKWOOD IS A POOR MFG. BUILDER .......
2 HOMES LIKE OURS ON THE LOT, 1 HAD EVERYTHING THAT WAS STATED IN THE BROCHURE,,,,,, MIRRORS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE IN OURS,,,WE DID NOT KNOW IT AT THE TIME WHEN WE PURCHASED IT,,,, WE KNOW THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE LIKE THE ICE MAKER, ABOUT 90.00 ITS THE DAMN IDEA OF NOT GETTING WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO GET , THEY SHOULD HAVE BE CHECKED AND INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY,, POOR QUALITY CONTROL AND BAD MANAGEMENT..

We are buying a 02 Palm Harbor clearanced from the lot. We have toured the home, and taken alot of pictures.

If you custom ordered this home you should have an options list stateing all the options that were supposed to be included in the home...do you have this list?

You still like the home? Doesnt much sound like it.

I do have a question in this regard though...i feel very comfortable with the salesman we have at Palm Harbor, and we have looked at the model on the lot that we will be getting..what do I need to have in writeing that the model we saw will be included with everything that was in the home at the time of viewing, like I said, we took alot of pictures, and they do want to move this home to make room for the 03, but for peace of mind it would be nice to have a list of whats coming with the home.

Basicly everything thats in the home is standard as far as Ive seen, except for the fireplace, and the ceramic entrance ways and backsplash.

E mail me I will supply you with the info,,,,, It was not good,,,,, I know all MFG. Homes will have problems,,,,,,, It is still BS not getting what was supposed to be installed from the factory,,,,,,, Like I said POOR QUALITY CONTROL,,,,,,,,,,

I have a Golden west delivered two weeks ago a 3 section home also owned by Oakwood. Oakwood only manages the factory the homes are built in such as Schult and Golden west, they are still mfg the same. My home is absolutly beautiful and only 2 things that were not there I had in my contract and they will be put in because I have it in writing initialed by myself and the dealer. It is a wood laminate skirting (option) around the glamour bath (standard feature) and there is no gas conection at the range. I ordered an all gas home. these are minor fixes and the dealer will take care of them which is who you should complain about. Our home was built exactly how they ordered it. Maybe the dealer led you to believe these were included or promised you but you should take it up with them not bash the buider.

Some dealers are with a few exceptions dirty. they blame everyone else instead of fixing the problem themselves. For example contractors are on a set contract and only build what the dealer pays them too. Or contracts them to do. so if your dealer fails to put steps in the contract and you have to pay more to get them they will tell you the contractor forgot or screwed up and didn't build them so you have to pay us more so we can get them for you. This in turn makes you bash the contractor. when it was the dealer making promises and mistakes. Same applies here. Unless its in the contract you won't get it! my .02

All of the Homes like ours all had the same pkg. What I am saying is Why the quality control personel did not see that this home did not get them?????
Schult Was A GREAT MFG HOME befor it was sold to Oakwood,
We still like ours very much!!!! No problems none major as of yet, BUT they could have done a better job on the trim, White spots through out, Doors not closing correct, They did send a fixit dude from their plant, I think he worked at Mcdonalds before he was hired ..... LOL!!!
There was a security lite that was missing, We got that , And lite with the rings missing we did not get that they sent another lite that was not the correct lite, It was like the same lite in the kitchen, Which is totally use less,
So why did they send these that we not installed at the Land of Misfits, And will not send the other pkgs???? Good Question ? Any more good Questions?
I can get them probably from the dealer this was a cash deal to begin with,,
But still Where is the so called Quality Control????? Thats the concern here nothing else,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Case Closed !!!! They still SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

For the Palm Harbor home, there is a spec sheet that you are to look over and sign, it should have EVERYTHING listed on it, if it's not on it, the factory won't know to provide it. Take all the time you need to carefully look over the sheet and make sure what's on it, then sign, they should give you a copy, so keep it and use it when the house arrives.
Our problem was the opposite in that we said give us whatever this model has and were not told what options WEREN'T in the model we saw that we would like..doorbell....door into laundry room. A better explanations of available options would have helped.

I have spoken with several who own Palm Harbors, they are intensely satisified, ofcourse, I could be the exception, its not a perfect world. The three homes you spoke of that survived the hurricane were all Palm Harbor homes. If other manufactures' are claiming these were their home their commiting fraud...doesnt really mean that much anyway, just a poster on a wall, however I know how my home is constructed 2x4 int,2x6 ext,1/2 sheetrock, plywood subfloors,OSB wrap all around,2x8 floor joist etc.

I looked at ALOT of manufactured housing, and allthough I believe Palm Harbor is a tad pricy, I also believe they are well made.....problems are not exclusive to manufactured housing, ask any stick built owner.
