Metal Studs &/or metal construction

Post by Elizabeth » Thu Sep 29, 2005 3:38 pm

Hi, We are looking for manufactured houses that offer metal studs & other metal components in their construction to put on our property. Can any one please give me some leads where I can find them? Or perhaps a custom manufacturer who's willing to make one for us. My eyes are weary from searching the net. Oh, we're on the west coast. Any help will be greatly appreciated! :)

Only place I know of is in Hawaii - using metal because of the weather and bugs. Any commercial builder will work with metal. Is there a specific reason you want metal?

My husband works with metal all day long ( machinist & welder ) and he also just built a large metal shed and rebuilt our fencing ( metal 4x4 supports with redwood boards out back & decorative metal fencing out front ) He likes the strength, no chance of wood rot, termites, fireproof, etc. He likes things to last, low maintenance, fireproof & feels that he gets that with metal. He also said he watched a program on tv that showed the construction of a manufactured home that was built with metal studs. So I've been searching for him on the net & getting nowhere.

Isaw the same program....It was about a manufacturer in Hawaii....Delivery would be impossible.....I know of no manufacturer using metal studs..Call a few custom builders and as the engineering department why they are not offered....

Thanks so much guys! Now I can tell him & stop searching for something that's not available. And I will start asking the engineering depts of the places I end up contacting in my area. You have saved my poor weary eyes!... :)
