champion's ultimate kitchen
I am in Louisiana concidering buying the ultiamate kitchen by Champion with upgrades but feel the price is high. Is this a good quality home for the money? Is 85,000 a normal range for my state and this home? ( 5/16 roof pitch, 9ft. cialings, 30R in roof ,19R walls, 11R floors is the only major upgrades) Are there areas where they go cheap or other concerns I should concider with this model or manufacterer? Thanks for any response! TEE
Re: champion's ultimate kitchen
Tee, Champion make several models of homes, these models are of different quality levels, from entry to high end. I also live in LA. You did not say what size your home is. I have been looking at several different brands of homes, I will purchase one is a year or so when I retire in Missouri. I would suggest you shop several dealers that sell the home you are interested in for prices, do not tell them that you have talked to other dealers, remember buying a manufactured home it is like buying a car, shop around.

Here in Texas, Champion is being sued for underhanded tactics on the part of dealerships... There has been proof of forgery of customers signatures, falsifying to lenders (teeling lenders down payments have been made when no money has changed hands), and falsely stating conditions of their homes.
Since Champion has purchased almost every manufacturer of MHs... makes me severely question retailers in my area.

Re: champion's ultimate kitchen
TEE- you must understand that this "incentive" kitchen is little more than thousands of ranges thrown onto a semi and delviered to Champion homes to be placed in their product. if you like the kitchen, great, but remember that these appliances have been severely discounted by GE before going into the home. They are good appliances, but why should YOU pay the premium???
The bulk purchase value should come right down to the end user- YOU!
So, negotiate a better price--Yes, 85K is too much.

Re: champion's ultimate kitchen
Tina, ask for a list of the appliance model numbers for the standard home and the models for the "ultimate" kitchen package and compare the prices at a ratailer. The "ultimate" "dream" and other terms normally mean you go from basic appliances to middle of the range and you can do better. They price these packages higher than what they are worth because that is eye candy to the head chef.
