We are buying a home from Merit and they have poured footers/foundation today on our acre with the j-hook anchors imbedded into the concrete. The problem is we wanted and had on the plans that the home would sit 25 ft off the side property line. So today they poured the concrete and it is now 25 ft in the front of the house (perfect) and 31 ft at the rear to the property line (not acceptable). It is now sitting sideways on the acre. I even asked when they were out to dig the footers... why does it look crooked ...is that an optical illusion? I was told it was fine it was squared off and just fine, so I figured they know their job and it was ok. They poured 3 and a half truck loads of concrete (aprox. 30 yards) in the wrong location. What should I do....make them take it all out? Im am so upset that nobody caught this. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer and best of all....our home will be here on Mon.
Thanks in advance,
Dave
Dealer poured foundation in the wrong spot what to do???
Re: Dealer poured foundation in the wrong spot what to do???
Welcome to my world..
When they were doing the foundation for mine, I said, that doesn't look square the road.. I even asked them several times, each time I was assured it was. Once the house was set, it was very clear it was NOT square to the road. My site plan clearly indicated it was to be 100' from the property line in front (which is parallel to the road) and the survey shows it as 77'9" on one corner, and 86'1" on the other!
Not sure what could have been done about it, as I'm *certain* the dealer would not have corrected it, and course there's nothing that can be done about it now.
You need to get on them, make sure they understand that this is NOT done to plan. If you have a permit, make sure you let them know that the permit is based on the site plan, and the home does not match the site plan.
They need to correct their mistake, you won't be happy with it!
Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Dealer poured foundation in the wrong spot what to do???
I got back with the dealer and they are going to fix the problem. They agreed the footer contractor should have made sure it was correct according to the property plan.
The manager said they would either add more concrete, cut the excess and drill new anchors, or redo everything from scratch. The house will still be brought in tomorrow as scheduled, but they will set it off to the side until the foundation is fixed. I was suprised at their resolve to make it right.....as he said whatever it takes to make it right....they will do it. He even signed a letter stating the home will be set 25ft from property line and most importantly squared with the property lines. Here is the link to the company to anyone in central Florida looking to buy.

Will post the outcome after the house is completed.
Peace,
