Foundation Plan-HELP!

Post by ScottC » Tue Dec 21, 2004 9:46 am

Hi, I bought a 30'x68' from Champion in AZ. Got my financing, found a contractor and thought I was ready to go. The home is going to be installed in Riverside county California. Champion sent me their SPA (pre approved in California, I guess) plans for a cinder block stem wall foundation system, which is what I want. The plans indicated that they were for up to 28' wide. The guy at the permit office noticed that and said that's not the right one for a 30 wide. Champion never made one for their 30 wide and they say that the plan they sent me is good enough. I think that's strange. My contractor is saying that the manufacturer should supply a foundation plan for their product, and Champion is saying that it is just a couresy to provide this and the contractor should have it.
I don't know who is right or wrong, but I'm stuck until I can find a SPA for a 30 wide. I'm letting my home sit at their lot until this is resolved, but I'm trying hard to get this moving. Is their a source where I can find a California SPA plan for a 30' foundation? I know lots of 30 wides are out there. Thanks.--Scott

This is a plant respnsibility...blocking points will be different for the various models even within a single line of homes..certianly not the same as other homes..

Call the plant and ask for the engineer..tell him your problem and ask for help..You dealer should have already done this...

We are researching the procedures for titling and de-titling for AZ, OK, CA. Do you have any connections with anyone who can advise us on these procedures. Thanks for the contact.

Any reputable contractor will have plans for a block stemwall foundation for your home. As far as I know, the only foundation plans that Champion would have would be for a UBC built home. Any FHA approved foundation has to have an engineer certified (stamped by the engineer approving the plans) plan for the foundation. Hope that helps.
