housing in Boston area..commutable distance

Post by Debbie » Sat Sep 18, 2004 4:48 pm

Does anyone know anything about manufactured homes within a commutable relation to Boston?
Either Ma. NH or RI I guess. I don't know anything about the area.
Dealers? Land owned?
Even what the towns are like? Best places?

I'd like to reasearch the area as well and I'm having a hard time finding information.

Thanks,
Debbie

Debbie,
I'm originally from the Boston area and my mother and sister still live there. I don't know where you are from, or why you are moving to the Boston area but I choose NOT to live there. Housing is very expensive and the traffic is horrendous. For example, commuting from southern NH (around Nashua) to Boston can take 1 1/2 to two hours or longer. Commuting from the south shore or west is just as bad. I have a friend who lives in Plympton and he just bought an old single wide two bedroom there in a MH park for around $ 90,000. I thought it was terribly overpriced.
With that said, if you currently live in California, you might not mind the cost and hassel of living in Massachusetts. Also, if you want to keep your commute to 1 hour or less you may have a very difficult time finding a manufactured home.
Don't know if that helps or not, but I want to wish you the best of luck and hope you do find something you like.
Oh, don't get me wrong. Massachusetts is a great place to visit.

Kevin,

Your response mirrored my thoughts and fears. Moving to Mass. or New Engalnd would not be my first choice for all of the reasons you stated...however friends I have will be moving there so I thought I would see if I could afford to move there too.
1 1/2 hours from Nasuah to Boston is not great but ptobably tolerable...do you know what the town is like???
I am native San Diegan...I want to get away from high prices and traffic but not wind up in some desolate place that there is nothing to do and no one will ever come to visit me. :-)

So my search for information about the area continues. :-)
