Still too early to tell....but the national new media should be saying I am sorry...
Death toll total from all causes..16...not hundreds in the manufactured home parks as they reported early on....A few folks unfortunately died in manufactured homes...but remember this area of the state is mostly manufactured homes..others died in their cars..condos..homes..business....all proving that mother nature is very tough and not discriminatory..
News slipped out yesterday that ALL manufactured homes substantially damaged at the location of the eye..were pre 1994 models...ALL 1994 and newer models survived very well..this is when the wind zone codes came into effect...These homes are built to take 120 mile/hour winds...but survived 180 mile per hour gusts..Now all we need is head line stories about this industry success..
I just found out that my aunt in Cape Coral, FL..completely lost her $400,000 site built home and most of it contents..totally destroyed by wind and water...wonder why the news folks did not cover this kind of story???????...
The lesson here is..if you live in Fl..GA..TX..SC..NC..and they tell you the bad one is on the way...go somewhere else..
Could be worse..you could live in CA and have a major earthquake with NO warning..
Hurricane updates...
