Moving to land
Moving to land
Can anyone tell me anything about moving a MH from a park to land. I would like to look into this but do not even know where to begin; who to contact, what to look for, etc.
Re: Moving to land
Sounds like a good idea now..This is a big project...
You did not mention if you have a double or single section home..
There would be substancial difference in how you would approach this project..Which do you have...and we willo see if we can get you some help..

Murray is right, knowing whether you have a double or singlewide makes a big difference in how you approach a project like the one you are contemplating.
However, there are a few things you can do now that are common to both doubles and singles.
1. Make sure your manufactured home is HUD compliant. Many jurisdictions will not consider a building permit for a non-HUD home.
2. Determine what your project budget will be. In other words, how much do you have to spend for land, for the move? Also, keep in mind dismantling and reassembly costs if you have a doublewide. Determine whether you will need a obtain a loan.
3. Go to the building department for your jurisdiction to learn areas of your town that are zoned to allow manufactured homes. Some towns have restrictive zoning that makes manufactured home placement difficult.
4. Begin to identify lots in properly zoned areas that are available in your price range.
5. Begin to get estimates from firms that move manufactured housing.
6. Discuss the estimates with your banker, if a loan is needed.
Naturally, there will be many more steps involved, but the above summary should get you thinking in the right direction.
Good luck with your project!

Re: Moving to land
Hi sorry for the delay in response. Lost my internet connection for a while. I have a doublewide 28x64. It was built in 1999 w/ a 5/12 roof pitch. I was told roof pitch could be important when moving onto land??
