Energy Codes for Manufactured Homes

Please let me know if you can send me the latest HUD Code regulating manufactured homes. I believe it is 24 CFR 3280.500. Current HUD codes regulating manufactured homes currently specify a minimum overall u-value and the requirements in California (Zone 2) are as follows: Uo = 0.096 Btu/hr-sf-„aF with minimum R-21 ceiling and R-11 wall/floor. While most manufactured homes are currently built with R-35 ceiling, R-11 wall, and R-19 floors, they often have leaky ducts, clear double-pane vinyl windows, and no radiant barrier in the roof. HUD codes should be revised to improve whole house energy efficiency especially with respect to measures affecting cooling use since in California most new manufactured housing is located in hotter inland climates.

Fuqua homes are generally R40 ceilings, R33 flooors and R21 walls. You should look for 6 inch side walls. That allows for thicker insuslation.
