Waverlee vs. Sunshine homes

We are considering buying a double wide. Any sugesstions on which is a better built home, Waverlee or Sunshine? We liked the feel of both homes, but a little nervous about Waverlee being apart of Liberty homes.

Waverlee has a lot of eye candy where Sunshine is a solid, family owned builder that is more on the basic/plain side. In many parts of their market Sunshine has their own crews that do the finish out and have a good customer service reputation. With Sunshine you get 2x4 interior with T&T throughout, Waverlee has more sparkle as a basic package.

What is the difference between a modular home and a double wide mobile home?

Post by Sue » Sat May 15, 2004 9:15 am

Hi!
I am considering refinancing my modular home. I was told by an appraiser that I have a double wide home. He is the first person in 20 years who has described my home as a double wide. My home was considered top of the line when I bought it 20 yeas ago. It has been well maintained with several features added. I need to know the technical difference between a modular home and a double wide mobile home.

The building code, to which the home was constructed, designates the type of construction. If the home was built to the HUD code, certified by the small red metal tag, on the rear end of the home, it is a manufactured home. If it was built to the prevailing state code, and so certified, it is a modular home.
