Please tell us what you know about Oakwood Manufactured Homes

My husband and I are looking at Oakwood Manufactured Homes, and we want to know anything you can tell us. Are they put together to stay? We would appreciate anything you could tell us. Thanks!

one thing you can do is put in the word "oakwood" in the search field and set the dates to "all" and see what comes up. oakwood is a name that has been mentioned often on this boards and not always favorably. i believe that oakwood is still in bankruptcy, but there are experts on this site that know much more than i do. good luck in your search for info.

Oakwood Homes is in bankruptcy...Clayton Homes has offered to buy all Oakwood Assets and the court has accepted the offer..The sale will finalize in the next couple of months..After that there will be no Oakwood Homes...They will be Clayton..

Oakwood homes is in bankruptcy but will emerge April 1, as a part of Clayton homes. The company owns many subsidiaries.... Freedom, Marlette, Schult, Golden West, Crest. The product quality is above average and they have begun to move into the high end modular business with good success so far. Many of the problems that have plagued Oakwood in the past will be solved to some extent with the clayton merger. Service after the sale will be put back into the hands of the sales center instead of the factory, in the form of preferred housing services (PHS). If you are considering purchasing from Oakwood Homes make sure you purchase from a sales center that will follow-up with service after the sale... ie ask for references!
