Patio Door Problems

Post by Susan » Fri Jan 02, 2004 9:55 pm

We need help! We want to put a patio door in the living room in the new PH Keystone we are purchasing, instead of the exisitng widow the model has. PH has told us they can put in a patio door or an exterior door and windows. Problem being my whole family (Construction background) is against us doing this because they say we will have nothing but problems and will not drop the subject.

They claim we will have a door that will eventually stop working, water leaks, rotting wood, etc., and should just leave the windows. We plan on putting an awning of some sort over the door to help prevent this from happening. Are we asking for problems by having the factory do a patio or regualr door instead???

Thanks for the help!

We had a door installed in the living room of our old PH that didn't even exist on the floor plan. We added it, so we could get to the back yard easier, than going through the side door on the other end of the house by the kitchen. The 3 years we had the home, never had a problem with it.

If the plant puts the door in ,no problem. Now, if the home is already built and they send their guy out to put the door in then I might have some concern.Patio doors or sliders are not going to cause problems installed correctly.Make sure there is perimeter blocking support under the door after its installed.

I'm with Bill. No problems so far here, after a year; it's a vinyl slider, too.

I too have a patio door. Factory installed. I absolutely LOVE it!! If I had listened to all the negativity I was told I would be homeless when it came to me buying my manufactured home. Some people meddle too much and much of the time they have no clue as to what they are talking about if you ask me. Good luck and go for what you want. :)
