Cold air drafts in end of home???

Post by angelnstix » Mon Dec 08, 2003 9:41 pm

We are experiencing a huge air temperature drop in one end of our home. It is the opposite end that our furnace is located. We checked the master bath and noticed an exposed hole around the pipes, insulated it and we still have the cold end of the home. Anyone have this problem?? Any suggestions? Our registers for the heater are open and blowing hot air. Strange....Any input is very welcome. angelnstix By the way, our home is a Fleetwood, if that helps.

you need to check the marriage line seal. check the seal where the two halves come together at the floor and also on the end where it is cold. go underneath the home to check bottom and pull back a couple of pcs of siding to check the end.

Ok, will do, well will have hubby do! I really appreciate your expertise! It is definently colder on that end and that is where I sleep! Thanks so much! I will let you know the verdict. angelnstix

The marriage seal looks good I am told. You said "go underneath the home to check bottom and pull back a couple of pcs of siding to check the end" if you don't mind could you explain that better. Sorry I am confused. Thanks so much, angelnstix

yes, along the bottom of home where the two halves meet there should a foam sealer strip to seal off outside air. then on the ends of home the seam will run floor to roof peak ,if possible check this seam to see if it was sealed up also. also how does the air volume seem to be ? is it equal out of all vents ? does one side have more air than the other? also what size home do you have , where is it located and what type heat do you have?

We are located in Colorado. Southeastern part. The home is a 32 X 80 Fleetwood. The vents seem to be blowing the same amount of air. The furnace is gas, its a Coleman brand. Thanks again! Your great!! angelnstix
