Rubber Roof

Post by F J Casey » Thu Oct 16, 2003 12:43 pm

Hi-

I have a Florida room on my home (1987) in Massachusetts. The room was manufactured by Silver-Top and the roof is a "bridge brace" curved aluminum. Can this type of roof bear the weight of 3 men walking on it? I am strongly considering having 3" of styrofoam insulation put on the rooftop with a rubber membrane over it. The rest of the house has a standard shingled roof. Thoughts, suggestions??

Thanks.
Frank

I'd sure think about three men on top of this unit. I would not feel comfortable with this type of load. You may temporarily brace the entire roof from the inside with lumber, to be removed after the roof system is installed. Food for thought.

I'm a bit surprised! Check out www.silver-top.com.
They show a picture with about 10 guys on one of these roofs!

Let me know what you think! Thanks!
