Manufactured versus Site-Built

Post by Sarah Lewis » Sun Apr 13, 2003 5:07 am

I am a single woman living in Seattle. I am considering purchasing a home in the next two years. Seattle and the greater Puget Sound area is a rather expensive market for site-built homes. I would like to compare the pros and cons of purchasing either type of home. Where do I start?

Thank you in advance for your response.

That's too general to start with, so here are some questions:
Do you plan to live there for several years?
How important is appreciation to you?
Are you OK with maintenance?
How far are you willing to travel?

The reason I ask these questions is that there are lots of options, from buying a condo in closer, to buying an older home, to buying a new or used manufactured home, in a park or on its own land (better investment). I live in a 2002 manufactured home on my own land, for comparison. Previously, I lived in a tract house.
