I just recently had my AC re-hooked up since I had moved from one city to
another.
I have an A style coiled AC system. The A coil sits on top of the heater or
blower for heater. I do not have a filter, but what I recieved when I bought
the home new was this "washable filter". It is black and it is commonly used
for window AC units. You know when it gets all dusty, you just throw it in
the wash to clean?? That is what I use for my A coil.
Now, I had a local Heat/Air man come out to re-connect and top off the
freon. He said that I need to have a case coil. He also said that my
"current" setup is damaging the blower because I do not have a case coil.
When he says case coil, I am thinking of something that totally covers up
the coils, and makes it look like a box like you would find in regular home
AC/Furnace setups. I do not have a "boxed in" system, just the washable
filter that fits gently over the fins of the A coil. I hope you all know
what I am trying to describe here.
Local AC/Heat man says that I need to replace my A coil, for a case coil and
relocate it. He wants 750 dollars for it. The guy who installed my AC system
when new, said I would be fine with the washable filter. I guess I'm not
that "good" with AC systems and stuff.
To be honest, when I first saw (my first MH this is) the AC setup, I
thought the installer had done it wrong. Hmm...could anyone kindly help me
figure this out?

(P.S.) Sorry if I double posted.
