Unhappy with Dealer
Re: Unhappy with Dealer
There should be something in your paperwork which will identify the HUD number and serial number. How did these get covered over? That's a "no-no". Contacting an attorney is the right move,
PS: A stem wall should qualify as a permanent foundation.

I am also unhappy with our dealer & the manufacturer! I have been going on with the state of Arizona Office of Manufactured Housing. Its the biggets joke I have ever seen! I plan now to find out how to get a class action case As well as write to every agency on this matter! They should stop making & selling these homes until they can correct all the problems. HUD should also be responsible for these errors! I am looking into now who is stockholders of these companies & present my case also. MADDER THAN HELL OWNER.
Re: Unhappy with Dealer
Ok. You have a few choices actually. One... go to the President of the Manufacturer. Or... go to whomever did the loan for your home.
Either way... you can't go wrong.
As a General Manager... I usually resolve most disputes with a common sense and easy mannered approach.
I don't just sell a home and then forget about it. I am consistently making follow up calls to make sure my customers are happy. That's how I get "repeat" business. This means...if I have a happy customer, then THAT happy customer is going to tell other people who will come to my lot and buy from me.
Customer satisfaction is the key to a successful business.
Good luck !

Jan,
As Tony stated, that is an excellent idea to go right to the top of the manufacture's executives. If you rattle the tree there someone is bound to see that your issues are addressed. Your situation is very unfortunate, hopefully it can be resolved without the expense of an attorney. I don't mean to make it sound that we are perfect, because we are not, however we try to be. It is unfortunate that they are not communicating for a resolution. Try to talk to your lender, and block any further dispersements to your dealer, and possibly contract with someone else to complete your project. Afterwards file a suit against the dealer.
Good Luck!

Re: Unhappy with Dealer
I don't think it would be unfair to name who the dealer is so we can all be aware of what may happen if we work with them.
Re: Unhappy with Dealer
Thanks for your response. The numbers got covered up with a "lap board" that was placed from the lower edge of the house to the stem wall. And regarding that stem wall, that has been the the argument with the State of Manufactured Housing saying it didn't qualify as a permanent foundation. However, this argument may have been won this week and I was told it was acceptable. Just waiting for the inspector to slap on that green tag.

Mel ... Let me know what's happening in your circumstance. I would be interested in seeking some solutions and/or resolutions with the way everyone keeps bouncing responsiblity. My file folder must be getting close to 2" thick with all the telephoning and communications I've done (instead of the dealer doing it.) It's really disgusting!! And besides, you're also in Arizona.

Tony ... Thanks for your response. I wish you were in my area. That's all I am really looking for is some customer service and keeping me apprised of what is going on. I'm paying the bill (and particularly when the house just sits there for weeks and interest occurs on the construction loan.)
Hopefully you are doing a great business because of your extended courtesy and concern for your customers (and potential customers.)

Re: Unhappy with Dealer
Jim ... By your e-mail address, I'm guessing you are located in Phoenix and possibly a subcontractor. The particular dealer I'm working with is in northern Arizona (Yavapai County). At this point I am reluctant to provide any information unless my situation ends up with filing complaints to the all agencies everyone has suggested. And yes, I am locating some attorneys and seeking their opinion/advice.
I made the mistake of not obtaining more referrals and doing more comparison shopping. Anyway, that part is my blame. I visited Busbee's, Palm Harbor and Factory Expo. My experiences with those dealers would be another book. They make car salesmen look great!!

Re: Unhappy with Dealer
I had a problem with a dealer a few years ago. My problem was I put down $5000. for a down payment and the dealer just took my money and thought he could get away with it. I don't know about you but it took me a long time to save that money. So I called and wrote to just about every agency also. Then I contacted the Insurance Commision and was in contact with them on a weekly basis. It took me a year but I got all of my money back plus he had to pay the cost of court. I'm kinda weary of dealers now.
