I have no title bought from a dealer new 2001 NY
I bought a new doublewide in Ny from a dealer, It took 4 years to get the mco from them, They never signed it. I tried to get a title in NY where I bought it and they want the mco signed by the dealer that sold it to me. He is out of business and among the missing . I can not sell it without a title. Does anyone know how I can get this resolved. I have a lawyer that has no clue what to do.

In the state of New York 'a Certificate of Title (MV-999) is the official proof of ownership for a manufactured home. The title certificate is used to transfer ownership from one person to another. The title also lists any "lienholders" — those from whom the owner borrowed money to purchase the vehicle or manufactured home".
The dealer was legally obligated to apply for a Certificate of Title when you first purchased your home. New York has strict laws and enforcement to protect the rights of manufactured home owners. Tell your lawyer to:
Call the NY State Manufactured Home Hotline (800) 432-4210.
Seek advice on title procedures from The New York Manufactured Housing Association, (518) 867-3242 or Email: [email protected]
File with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Complaint Unit: Phone 518-474-8943. Even though the dealer is out of business the state requires all dealers to be bonded. If the unit decides that the dealer violated the law you may be entitled to damages from the company that bonded the dealers license.

I live in Indiana and have the same issue. I purchased a home new from the dealer in 2000, paid cash. I have the Certificate of orgin, bill of sale and regisration where I have been paying taxes on it. I am now ready to sell it and it must be moved from its current location.
A potential buyer asked me for a copy of the Title- I don't have one- how do I proceed with the sale.
