mobile home prices

Post by Ryan1984 » Sat Mar 03, 2007 9:01 pm

Before I start this, I know, I know...You get what you pay for

With that said, I am doing all the research I can in my area (Maine) but it gets difficult to visit every dealership and get the prices for all the homes.

I'm hoping someone has already done a little research on the homes in this area, or all of the New england area and can give me some basic pricing information.

For example, what is the cheapest double wide you've been able to find? Any price lists for different homes? Basically, I'm looking at every single/double wide I can in the $30-55K range.

If anyone has an info on any of the homes available in this area, please let me know

John Grissim recently finished the first ever consumer ratings guide to
each and every manufactured home builder in the country...

The Grissim Ratings Guide to Manufactured Homes  provides at-a-glance listings with key information home shoppers need to make an informed decision.  All U.S. builders are fully evaluated. More than three hundred  brands and series described.

Each manufactured housing builder's listing
includes the following:
States where sold
Principal market niche/target customer
Retail price range before tax (price includes transportation
& set-up)
The brands they compete against
Construction rating on a 1-to-10 scale (with 10 being the
highest quality)
Brands/series produced
Description of a popular model
What distinguishes brand from its competition

You can read free excerpts from The Grissim Ratings Guide to Manufactured Homes on line HERE and will find the Ratings Guide packaged with Grissim's Buyer's Guide to Manufactured Homes and Land at a nice discount at the Manufactured Housing Book Store

I actually purchased this book, but from Barnes and Noble on-line (sorry). I'm waiting for it to come in, and feel it will be a good starting point.

However, knowing that there are so many different manufactures with so many different models and variations, and after reading the excerpts on here, I don't feel like I'm going to be able to get the actual price estimates for each model. That is why I'm looking for people in my area who have already done some of their own research. I saw from the excerpts, that the book lists the price ranges of the models a manufacturer sells, but doesn't seem to go into more detail than just a ballpark figure from their highest to lowest priced homes

I'm just trying to figure out if I can afford to buy a decent double wide, or if I should stick with a single.

Ask a local dealer to run some MLS listings for you in your price range.
MLS = Multible Listing Service.
