Need advice on dealers up state NY
Need advice on dealers up state NY
My wife and I are looking at building a modular home on land we own in southern Washington county New York. We found a home we like The Wyoming III built by Professional Building Systems out of PA. This home is offered by a dealer in Ganesvoort NY,Glens falls Custom Mobile and Modular homes, on Rt 9 They also own Dig a Hole Excavation. I have read several post on the web, on this sight and others, about some real problems people have been having with some upstate NY modular home dealers. I was wondering if anyone out there has any info on this dealer. Also has anyone had experience with Professional Building System Homes.

Hello
New York as increased the laws governing dealers and set-up crews. Set-up crews have to have a certified tech on site now as well as some other new things. Up until then New York had no requirements at all, just local building inspectors. So you could look up the association for the state here on MobileHome.com and ask what the certifications are and if all certification have been obtained, As well about any possible complaints.
I have heard of the factory in the past but have never done any business with them. For the most all factory homes are built well. You can arrange for a factory tour and see the process fist hand. I had never heard of Custom Mobile and Modular homes. I am in the Hudson Valley area of NY. Now I have sold and financed homes in NY for a many years. When shopping for a dealer you need to go with who makes you feel comfortable, when you call they should be happy to take the time to speak to you and follow up on your questions. If they can service the home and make you feel comfortable with the company process and policies on what they do and do not provide in the base price. And if the state gives you good news you may just have a winning combination.
