information on Mobilehome siding
I'm considering on residing our mobile home this coming year. Is there a difference when installing siding in a mobile home verses a regular home that I need to be aware of. . Since this is a costly project I would appreciate any advise. Thank you, Suane

Thank you Eugene for your answer on 12-29th. Just following directions is good advise. Maybe my question was not clear? My concern is a Mobile home has movement and not like a structure as a home on a solid foundation. When pounding into an aluminum base (by chance missing a stud) in time there can be a shift. Where as screws seems to be the answer for adjustment when lining up siding upon installment and movement. I would appreciate advice from someone that's knowlegeable on this issue. Thank you.

No difference that I can see, at least if your home is on a slab. I have Hardi-Plank and Hardi-Panel on mine... if I were ever to re-side, I would do it the same as any other dwelling.
Are you planning to re-side over existing aluminum siding? What kind of siding are you going to apply?

No my home is not on a slab. I have a 1972 Madison that's 1450 sq ft. and I've kept the upkeep on this home. I'm replacing windows, roof and looking into Vinyl siding. I've been observing homes that used smooth roof nails not even shanked rather than using rust resistant screws to hold the vinyl unto the aluminum. The cost would cut into their profit. My concern is when not hitting into the studs with these nails they've been able to pull them out effortlessly with your fingers! . I'm inclined to go with the latter for I've noticed when installing with screws they are able to adjust in lining the vinyl upon installation and the expansion is there for changes of the seasons. Where as if it's using nails incorrectly there will be a defect or wave in this product no matter if it's a high end product. I just want to be more knowledgable before this work start!
I know it seems like a lot of work, but I love my home, my community and above all I don't want to have a new home pulled in and be displaced for 6 months and more. Those that sell these homes are for profits and sad are using sub contractors that have no knowledge when setting homes up. That's even a nightmare that a retired person doesn't need!
