Sear's Vinyl installation
Sear's Vinyl installation
I'm having Sears residing my home with their top grade vinyl. I'm concern that their foremen are not trained and their co-workers even less. We've had our home in progress since Nov. 15th. They're work schedule starts at noon and between breaks they might put in 3 - 4 hours not counting breaks. Bottom line rain is here and we have the energy insullation exposed. Part of of 4 x 8 sheets that should be butted together for a tight fit is not. We're worried about having the vinyl installed over wet insulation and later having problems with mold. Any information would be appreciated.
Re: Sear's Vinyl installation
Does Sears use their own people, or do they hire subcontractors to do the job? In other words, do they show up in a Sears van and wear Sears shirts?
Having a slight gap between the 4x8 allows for expansion. Otherwise I'd get in touch with your salesman and express some concern. And take plenty of pictures.

Sears hire workers from Russia. We made the decision to have Sears Products in as much we didn't want a company here today and gone tomorrow. What we found there is no communication between Sales Rep and on down the line to workers. These workers do not drive Sears Van nor wear their shirts. Nor are they trained! We stopped the first crew when we they were asking our plumber questions concerning how to frame the skirting area. Better yet pounding a nail to find each (16in) studs. Yes we have pictures and everything is documented.
Re: Sear's Vinyl installation
I'm looking for any website or any information concerning the correct way to install Vinyl siding. Sears Quality Control stated that exposed insulation and wood to heavy rains would not be of any future consequence. It will eventually dry when weather permits. Any information would be appreciated from those that has had work done.
