patch wall
patch wall
I was wondering if it was possible purchase from the manufacturer a piece of drywall that matches the interior of a mobile home. We have a hole that needs to be patched...but how in the world else would we match it to the wall papered looking walls?
Re: patch wall
Unfortunately the only place to even remotely find an exact match would be thru your MH dealer. And the chances of them having a piece is remote. What most end up doing is just replacing with a generic panel and repainting the room. If the hole is small enough, you could try to use drywall patch, but it rarely looks good enough for most folks. Re: patch wall
Depending on the age of your home - you can contact the builder of your home direct to see if they still have the pattern. Some manufacturers have "patch paper" for just such a problem. This is, basicly, just the "skin" from a drywall sheet. You would use this to cover the whole damaged sheet. They may be able to sell you a whole new sheet of drywall to match (most try to keep a small supply of each drywall pattern for a time). If your particular builder doesn't have the pattern, ask them to check with thier supplier or a "sister" plant. Most generally, you will have to repair or replace the entire sheet to make it look the best.
Re: patch wall
If you do find a sheet of drywall to match, keep in mind that you can also remove the skin from the panel and overlay what you have on the wall. Also, depending on the age of the home, if you smoke in the house, and cooking all play a big part in the panel being darker than your new one.. You may find it easier to just repair, and paint what you have now
