getting started
getting started
We are concidering a small mobile home community fo our own and would like some information on how to get started. A couple of particular questions: How to obtain a dealers license so we can shop the auctions in Texas, is it possible to purchase repos.directly from the finance companies. Any feedback and/or suggestions will be greatly appretiated.
Re: getting started
Each state has laws of their own. Your best bet on this specific question is to contact the Texas Manufactured Housing Association. You can usually buy a home if you are going to own it, but not always without a retailer's license. And, if you want to sell them, you may also need a license. Good luck! And - welcome to the industry.

Re: getting started
Best place to start would be to contact the Manufactured Housing Association in your state...

Your state's SSA ( Contracts to HUD to enforce the federal law) is the State Department of Homeland Security...I am sure they could direct you to the right agency to get a license to sell....Installers license is from the State Board of Manufactured Home Installers....This one requires 2 years experience and a $1,000,000 bond...These would be just a few to contact...Your Department of Revenue will require a tax collector license..Most likely you will also have to have local business licenses as well...Get used to dealing with government....
The Association will be able to help you all thew way through...
