Abandoned Trailers

I just took over as manager of a mobile home park in Iowa City, Iowa and I have around 8 mobile homes that have been abandoned for a long time. I need to get them torn down because they are not fixable or sellable so I can move some newer homes in. I am not sure what the exact process is I need to take. Can someone help me?

How long has rent not been paid on each of the 8 units? Is there any need for housing in your community? According to the Mobilehome Residency Law, if rent is not paid for 60 days on the mobilehome, you post a Belief of Abandonment Notice, and file the notice in your local court or hire an attorney to file it. You'll have to check title and ownership of each home in order to properly notify the legal owner and registered owner. Follow the proceedure in the Mobilehome Residency Law about publishing a lien sale. If you have an organization that will move the homes off the site or a local dealer who can work out a deal to sell homes from your park, that will help offset your rising costs.
