NC PH Discovery homes

Any modulars in NC that would compare to the PH discovery homes, as far as value and price? These are good looking homes, but I'm cautious.

I would look at Genesis if they are offered in your area. They are a notch above the Discovery Homes and about the same price point. The Discovery line is very nice but I think that dollar for dollar, you will get a little more with the Genesis product.

I looked at the Genesis Homes website. It is so amazing that companies design a website that I assume they think is cute for lack of a word i can use here.
This site offers no information, just hype. I would not buy a genesis because if their website is like this what is the real thing like.

There is a reason there is no real information on the Genesis website.
Genesis claims to be the only national manufacturer of modular homes. But Genesis does not have any factories, their homes are built by other Champion divisons and the nationwide product offering was dumped a few years ago. Consequently every plant builds a different product and different floorplans. In their fine print you will find that most floorplans are only available from one plant.
For example, in the Midwest Genesis is built by Redman and the Genesis product is identical to the modular product sold as Redman. Those spec.s and floorplans are different than what is built at Homes of Merit or Silvercrest etc.

trmimo was talking about the Genisis Product by Champion....I have no idea about them...but the Discovery Home is not like any other Palm Harbor product..except maybe Nationwide Homes..Discovery is a Division of Palm Harbor...NOT Champion

Discovery takes the opposite approach. Like Genesis they don't have any plants of their own, but they offer a product very different from the Palm Harbor hud homes. Their models are available at all their plants. That is why they don't have a whole lot of floorplans. Each home is designed for many different code requirements. So you can order a house in Florida that looks just like a house you order in Ohio but the insulation, roof load, and wind resistance among other things would be different to meet local codes. Whereas with Genesis you can't get the same house from 2 different plants.

I used to be a GM for a PH company sales center and am now the GM for an independent retailer. As far as Manufactured home builder's web sites go, I wouldn't say that any of them are very informative and there is a reason for that. Most of the larger manufacturers build different products in different areas so they aren't willing to give too much info. Last I checked, PH's web site is not much more informative than any other I have seen. As far as me "putting down PH", I am not putting them down, I just don't believe that they are the best thing out there. I would rate them in the top 5 or 6 but certainly not the best. I must reiterate that I am only familiar with the Texas product, so in other areas, they may be the best, but in Texas, not even close.

The Genesis web site says that they are the "first" not the "only" national manufacturer of modular homes. You should know that all manufacturers build different products in different markets. In Texas, the Genesis modular product is not anything like the normal Champion modular or hud product. It looks, smells, and tastes completely different. "Experts" on this web site need to clarify that everything is regional, thus can be completely different (better or worse) in different regions.

I clearly pointed out in an earlier post that specifications are regional. I can't think of anyone else claiming to be a national modular manufacturer besides Genesis. You are right that discovery has no specifics on their website. Neither does the Palm Habor site. And you're right that Palm Harbor is a top 5 or 6 but not the best.
