Getting modular set up

Post by Barbara Carrick » Sun Dec 18, 2005 9:05 am

Finally we got delivery of our modular home to our lot in FL. Now we are having a heck of a time getting our home set up. We are due to go to live in the house on the 30th of Dec. is there any way to get them moving? They have promised us to be done.

I am a builder and have done 3 modular homes recently, and one manufactured. From my experience a manufactured home will be installed fairly qiuckly, because the home seller usually handles just about everything in house. On the modular side, my experience has been that it takes just as long as a stick built house. The ones we built the rep just provided setting the house with no sub trades offered. If you bought a "Turn Key" house then there should be clause that gives the builder until a certain date to finish the house, and if it is exceeded then there should be a penalty. If this is the case then you can bet the house will be finished by that date, but not much before that.
