Recommendations/info

Post by Terry » Thu Jul 15, 2004 9:54 pm

Frist of all, we live in Iowa and are talking about a MH to be placed in Iowa. So keep the region in mind. I am looking for recommendations/info on manufacturers of homes for this region of the country. I am concerned with quality construction and energy efficiency. This will probably be the last home we own, and we don't want one that is cold and drafty or starts falling apart in a few years.

We have been doing some preliminary work with a dealer in the area who seems to be very reputable and helpful. While some dealers we've talked to have brushed us off as "tire kickers" (just looking, not planning on buying), this particular dealer has answered questions when we have stopped in and has been willing to research and give us answers to questions by e-mail. He has even done some rough pricing on a floorplan that we like.....a triple section home.

The floorplan brochure given to us by this dealer is listed as Highland Manufacturing Co. of Worthington, Minnesota. The company does have a website, not as large as some, and not a lot of information. Is anyone familiar with Highland Manufacturing Co. homes? I would also like to receive recommendations for other "quality" manufacturers of homes suitable for the climate in this part of the country. We were doing some looking with a different dealer who was selling Hart Homes but has since left the Hart organization due to "internal changes at Hart that we do not feel serve the best interest of our customers". They are now promoting Dutch Housing, Inc. Anyway, looking for thoughts about Highland Manufacturing and others for cold region homes. I know that big is not necessarily better, so will take a look at any company as long as it is felt their homes are quality construction and energy efficient.
