INDES VS ADVANTAGE

Post by LEDAWN » Tue Jun 10, 2003 9:00 am

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP? I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE MOBILE HOMES SOLD HERE IN LOUISIANA. THE BEST THAT I HAVE FOUND IS INDES, SO FAR. I AM GOING TO LOOK AT AN ADVANTAGE HOME (MANUFACTORED IN GUIN, AL) THIS WEEK. DOES ANY ONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION? HOW DO THEY COMPARE TO INDES? MY BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE OTHER HOMES IS THE LACK OF DIFFERENT FLOOR PLANS AND OPTIONS. THERE TENDS TO BE THE SAME OLD THING IN EACH ONE. THANKS

Hi my husband and I are also looking into the purchasing an Indies MH. We have found one in Monroe, LA and we absolutely love the floor plan with a few changes we prefer. I had a rep in Indies in Alabama phone me this week and I was able to ask questions about their homes. I was please with the answers and research that I have received. They would answer any of your questions I feel sure if you phoned them directly. Where are you located at? Which town? I am in the Alexandria/Pineville area. We are looking to make a decision in the next day about ordering our Indies home. We have did looking around and I haven't seen any that is as solid on a lot and not connected completely as this home. My husband has went over the specs and we have a friend who is a dealer and he is also looking into this for us to confirm the OK on Indies.

HI! WE LIVE IN AVOYELLES PARISH BUT MY HUSBAND WORKS IN PINEVILLE. YESTERDAY, WE WENT TO LAFAYETTE TO LOOK AT INDES AGAIN AND TALK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR THIS HOME. SOMEHOW, BY LUCK I GUESS, WE STUMBLE UPON A FRANKLIN DEALER. WE WERE BOTH VERY IMPRESSED WITH THESE HOMES. THIS MY BE SOMETHING YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO. THEY HAVE A HOME (DOUBLE WIDE) THERE THAT FAR EXCEEDS ANYTHING I SAW AT THE 3 OR 4 INDES DEALERS I'VE BEEN TO. THEY SEEM VERY SOLID, HAVE SHEET ROCK THROUGHOUT AND EVEN CEILING VENTED AC. THEY PAINT THE ROOMS WHATEVER COLOR YOU DESIRE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MORE INFO CONTACT ME.

Franklin is a very well built home. All 2x6 outside and 2x4 inside with true 8' walls. They do not offer vaulted ceilings and the one we looked at was top end price wise. They seem to be about as close to stick built as I have seen and are out of AL so you could go visit the plant.

We ended up with an Advantage Gateway home out of Guin, Alabama. (We live in Shreveport). Please think twice about one of these homes. WE had many things wrong and refused to move in until everything was fixed to our liking. It took two guys from the factory (actually they contract out to indepenpent persons) 70 hours to fix everything on our list. AND the factory rep was a complete ass!! I complained to his supervisor and he was not help. He actually took up for the jerk and said that he had 4 guys handling 18 states and they were overworked. When first delivered and setup I was ready to put a match underneath the home. We've lived in it for 4 weeks now and haven't found anything major to complain about. We definitely did not have a pleasant experience with this factory. I would not recommend them.
