I'm trying to find out who manufactures a log cabin style
single wide. I saw one so I know they exist but may be
an obsolete style. I'm looking for a used one in New Mexico.
Thanks.

K. Enders:
Try looking at the Spiral Home. They are 16' wide modular (not manufactured) homes made in Canada and are just now being marketed in this country. I have seen their specifications but have not yet seen the home itself. From the accounts of others who have seen them, I understand they are very well constructed.
Their web site contains pictures, etc. -- see them at www.spiralmv.com
Good luck.

Jon, I reside in Arizona and travel the rails for BNSF to Belen or Clovis and I know what you are talking about. The log cabin style home is manufactured by Chariot Eagle of Phoenix, Arizona and they make the 16' wide model and used as a vacation home. Another company that makes the log exterior is Cavco industries, but I hate to say they have a bad reputation in the industry. Karsten homes of Albuquerque, New Mexico also makes the log exterior siding and they come in double wide model. I was just in Albuquerque over the weekend and drove down central and I didn't see one. I believe some of the manufacturer's have them as an option and you could order the home with log cabin exterior siding. I know Shultz make the log or stucco exterior also. Since you are looking for a used home you could check with Conseco Fianance in Albuquerque and ask them if they have a repo in one of the dealer's lots that have log exterior siding. They usually have a listing of the used homes that are repoed, a good way to locate a used home you want. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Actually, I'm not in the market for a log cabin style home. I was responding to K. Enders. I'm not sure the home I mentioned to her will be of interest because it isn't a log-style home at all ... but it definately fits the overall genre of application. In fact, it was specifically designed for vacation, second home and country retreat use. And its a modular, not manufactured, home. Most folks who have seen it are intrigued. So I think its definately worth considering.
Have you seen it? If not, I'd appreciate you looking at it and letting me know what you think. You can find pictures and data at www.spiralmv.com.
Again, thanks for the log-style home information. Jon.
