Has anyone had any dealings with House Smart? How are they homes built, and how is their service? Is there any other comparible builders in the Oklahoma City area?

I would steer far away from this company. I have 3 neighbors, as we speak, who did not do any research. It took 4-6 months to get their homes delivered and they haven't been set up yet. The homes are sitting on the property waiting for carpet to be installed and the finishing touches to be completed. HouseSmart, which is Oakwood (not a reputable company) will not allow the homeowners on their own property during setup. This would raise a big time red flag to me. What are they hiding? Anyhow, these homes have been sitting for months now waiting HouseSmart to finish them. Another neighbor of mine was told his home was ready to occupy. He moved from another state, got here and the home was totally unliveable. So he had no other choice than to live in it anyway.

Personally, I know of 5 families who did not do their research and bought into HouseSmart. Sure, they are beautiful homes on the dealership lot. But what you get is NOT what you see. Not one of these families has been happy with their purchase. Of course, they did no research and did not use the internet which is easy access to all the information they would possibly need. Do not make a move until you have done tons of research! Don't spend $85,000 on a nightmare.

I am not commenting on House Smart but am really sick and tired of people bashing Oakwood. Our home, Golden West is owned by Oakwood just like House Smart and the service has always been wonderful. Maybe it depends on the area but Golden West homes serviced by Golden West/Oakwood Homes has always given us and people in our park great service and great homes.

Perhaps it depends largely on the individual dealer, the service you either do or DO NOT get. I'm told that it does, that you have to choose your dealer as carefuly as you do your home.

I'd like to take a look at the homes. Do they have a website?

Well. I just went to the hsmart web. Once again, you don't see the manufacturer bragging about their sub flooring material . . Solitare MH is the only mfg. I've seen that tells you right up front that they use PLYWOOD. I'll guaratee you that my Skyline has particle board - I've seen it, when they came in to 'doctor' the major problem which I am having. GO TO The Forum "Ask The Manufactured Housing Expert" - MH and 30 Year Mortgage - This Date.
