Colony Factory Crafted Homes

Post by Cara » Sat Jul 21, 2001 11:18 am

Hi We're buying our first home, live at the beaches in delaware where stick built homes are outrageously priced. Manufactured seems the way to go.
Looking at Colony homes built in Shippenville, PA. Has anyone heard of these homes? Our home is 28X80 --2077 sq ft 5 bdr 3 full bath all drywall inc baths and kitchen. We're looking at 70K (inc 7K in options). many we have looked at (Redman and Clayton) want in the 90K for the same floorplan, and lesser quality. If anyone has any info on the Colony homes- ours is in the Aurora series- please let us know. we have been looking for 2 years at all types and found this to be the nicest of all manufactures- and alot less $$$$.... thanks!!!

Dear Cara,
I just read your message on MH Discussion Forum... I am planning exactly the same move and have just started my research. I was hoping to relocate to the Lewes area. I would be grateful for any tips -- since you have been searching for two years and I just started mine. Are planning to move to a community or own the land? I've read so much lately my head is spinning... I visited the Colony site this morning -- very nice.
Thanks
L.A.

Hi L.A., Searching for the best manufactured home has certainally been an experience! Whew! There is so much to learn and so many pitfalls along the way. We were very fortunate to hook up with B&M Builders located in Millsboro Delaware. They sell Pine Grove, Champion, and the Colony home I asked about. We have been all over several states visiting various dealers and asking ALOT of questions. B&M has been great, we keep comming back to them, and plan to buy our home from them. Our sales person is Lisa, and she is great. I go over and bug her all the time, with various questions and concerns, and have done so for the past 2 years. She is always patient and willing to help us out. There really is so much to learn, alot more than what color siding to pick. There phone # is 302-945-1996. They dont have a website, they are just a small company, which is better that the larger ones i've found because of the prices-less overhead costs.
We actually live in Lewes now, and are moving towards Millsboro. Land down here is VERY scarce- for manufactured homes-especially mobile homes, you can find some land for modulers, but mobile land is hard to come by. we were very fortunate to find land in a small development, that accepted new moduler, mobile or stick built homes. Start your search for land LONG before you search for your home-because it goes fast and it keeps going up in price- our land went up 2k in just a month!!!!!!! B&M has the home I talked about on display, is is the best value that we have come across....GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

70,000 Wow.!!!!!

Are getting free set-up, deli, and A.C and skirting and furniture and Ins.
Make sure you have Wind Zone II or III, better for coastal houses..
And make sure they do not stick you with a 30yr mortage...

Clayton homes, I seen are a little cheaper.

Clayton named manufacturer of the year for 2000 & 2001 by the Manufactured Housing Institute
