We were thinking of closing all vents in the floor of our 96 DW and placing a metal suspended duct at peak in ceiling along length of trailer, with 90% offshoots into 5 rooms. The original unit is shot and hate the floor vents and under floor ducts.
Does this sound do-able? The unit already sits at one end of the trailer which is 24 x 48 with a very open floor plan.

Re: replace ac/heat
The heat and air units are independent of the duct work. You can replace the unit without replacing the duct work.
Reinstalling ducts overhead would require engineering to determine duct sizes and transitions that would heat and cool the home evenly. Without this you will find that parts of your home will be too warm while other areas are too cool.
Not really a do-it-yourself kind of project.

Thanks but what if the original ducts are damaged. Can they be replaced?

The original duct work can be replaced or repaired. You need to match the sizes and transition locations to insure an even flow of air through the home.
