Help!
Our 4 year old shower/tub floor is cracking around the drain.
I've tried fixing it with fiberglass matting and repair and that held for a while until the water got under the fiberglass matting.
Then I tried JB Weld which held for some months; now that has cracked.
Is there a way to fix this permanently or am I looking at a new tub replacement?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
M. Karns

Re: Shower/Bath Tub Floor Cracking.....
Yes there are products to repair PVC tubs.. The size and location of the crack will determin if it is repairable. For the most part cracks that have growen from the drain and have a lot of movement when you step in the tub are most difficult. It sounds like the tub is not correctly supported and you will need to replace it sooner or later. If you have had enough patching and are ready to replace the tub visit The Mobile Home Parts Store to find a replacemen tub. Go for the fiberglass. PVC are less expensive but the fiberglass are considerable stronger and will last close to forever if installed correctly. As a general rule, replacing a bathtub is NOT considered a do-it-yourself project --especially if your changing the type and size of the tub. Changing anything means refiguring the drainlines, vents and waterlines and that can get a bit tricky and frustrating. But if your old tub is cracked or damaged and you simply wish to replace it with the same kind, then the project becomes more manageable.
