My wife and I are purchasing a 1997 Champion Atlantic 26' x 57' double wide. It has block piers on a continuous solid poured concrete foundation at the ends of the four major steel beams and then every 12 feet on the same type of continuous solid concrete footers. Between these piers sitting on the solid concrete footer are piers just on the soil six feet from the 12 foot interval piers. The piers just sitting on soil have settled since 1997 and are no longer bearing any weight of the steel beams. My question is whether these intermediate piers need to be reset and shimmed tight or if the 12 foot interval piers are enough to carry the weight.

The piers are part of the support system and shims should be reset so they are holding the weight of the home. A water level should be pulled the length of the home to insure that the piers are supporting the home level. Homes that settle out of level cause most problems that manufactured home owners experience.

You should NOT try to level your home by yourself. The operations involved in jacking and raising the home can be very dangerous and should be attempted only by experienced individuals
