Hurricane clips

Post by eastwinn » Fri Sep 14, 2007 7:54 pm

I bought a 1987 Fleetwood doublewide mh with a shingle roof and vinyl siding. What are the chances it has hurricane strips holding the rafters to the wall? Was this a common practice? I hate to take off the gutters and siding to check. Is there any clues to look for? Thanks, any help in this matter will be appreciated.

This home was built prior to the current wind zone requirements, but rafters have always been strapped to the walls and walls to the floor..Look at the bright side..The home is 20 years old and has withstood all nature could through at it and it has a roof...I trhink you will be fine but if a cat 5 hurricane heads your way..evacuate...Enjoy your home..
