Has anyone out there added eaves to their older mobile home? We have a 1974 Golden West. Any info about manufactures of add on eaves would be appreciated.
You can do anything to most manufactured home roofs that can be done to any framed home with a truss-rafter roof system. I am not familiar with your home builders construction standards from that time period. You will need to determine how the wall and roof systems were framed to figure out what they will stand in the way of structural additions.
We have built shingle roof systems over older metal roofs, built dormers over the front doors and added overhangs all the way around on some of our older manufactured homes. The results have held up over many years and added a huge amount of visual appeal as well as added value. Find a local roofing contractor who is more than a shingle installer, one who understands structural systems. This would be the best way to investigate the possibilities and find out what would be required by your local building permit authority.
