HUD bought doublewide

Hi! I just purchased a doublewide home in OK from HUD. HUD will pay for some repairs, but needs 3 bidders on jobs, ranging from hvac, electric, plumbing, exterior acess(porch/stairs), skirting, and new carpet. I have no idea who to contact regarding the repair work. General contractors? Any suggestions?
Thank you. ~Summer

What year was the home? What kind was it and how did you buy a home directly from HUD?

It is probably an FHA foreclosure...HUD has a web site where they sell all sorts of forclosures all over the country...As a matter of fact looking for a link I ran into the press release where they anounced they will be selling at large discounts to Katrina victums...

You can find government owned homes for sale here..

Summer:
Where are you in OK? Most general contractors in our area (Tenkiller Lake) work with both stick built and MH since there are so many MHs here. Pre-built steps, for example, are readily available at the local lumber yard. Ask around. Check with local MH dealers and ask who they would recommend for the work you need done. Some dealers have people on staff and others contract out for it. I've said it before here and I'll say it again...go ask your neighbors who they would recommend. You'll probably end up with more than three bidders for each project.

During the busy season, anyone will be lucky to get 3 people to just call them back -- much less trying to get them to actually come look at the job to get three bids. So if you can find one or two competent contractors willing to do the job, I'd work with them.
