door warranty on homes of merit

We have a problem with the outside frame on the door on our homes of merit home which is about 3 years old. When we purchased the home we were told that it had an end to end 5 year warranty. However now I am being told that the doors nor windows are covered by that warranty. Has anyone had any experience with this type of problem? I had a contractor look at it and he said that it looked like it had rotted from the inside out and probably came that way originally.

You should read your warranty..not take the "word" as gospel...Call the service manager at HOM and ask where the doors and windows tar excluded.....I doubt they installed rotten doors from the beginning....

I agree with Mr. Murray -
If the door was "rotten" when the home was brand new you would have noticed it.... Three years can be a long time for a tiny break in a sealed system. It sounds like a tiny spot in the putty or caulking or flashing has permitted moisture to accumulate. This is not an unusual occurrence in any type of building.
