New Foundation for Manufactured Home

I own a fairly expensive MFH which is on concrete runners and piers (blocks), hurricane straps and concrete block skirting.

I am concerned about resale value and refinancing and would like the home to look a little more "site built". I also plan to do a lot of interior/exterior upgrades and would like to get the most value possible back from these.

Is it possible to put a permanent foundation under the home? What are my options? Are they terribly expensive given that this is a big doublewide?

In certain parts of the country, over half of all homes are placed on permanent foundations.
It doesn;t need be a full basement. A concrete crawl space will work just fine.
And, no, it is not too expensive.

Can this typically be done without moving the home....i.e. jacking it up?

Why would you want to change? is the foundaiton that is now under the home about to fail... if not there is no reason to attempt a retro-fit.

The i-beams...runners and piers ARE the foundation...They seem permanent to me...In the SE where I am few if any home have perimeter foundations...Few even have the block skirting..Unless you feel the foundation is failing this seems like a little value would come from this expense..You might be better off spending this $8 to $10 k on landscaping..this will add much more value...Good Luck..

we purchased our home in 2004. we are trying to get a foundation underneathe it but what would be the cheapest was of getting a permanent foundation

I've never seen anyone add a permanent foundation without moving the house off. You are talking foundation and not skirting, right? If you having a lot of trouble with the home shifting or sinking, railroad ties can do a lot to sturdy up the home.

To get the home financed to FHA, VA you need to have a permanent. (better for end resell)
