Hi all,

My wife and I are going to be closing on a new mobile home in Concord NH next month. It has heat tape installed and Im wondering are you supposed to leave it on all winter or turn it on only on the coldest nights. Do they regulate themselves as far as temp? do they cost alot to run?

Most heat tapes are thermostatically controled and designed to be left connected at all times. they only operate when there is a danger of freezing. Make sure it is pluged in.

If it wasn't thermostatically controlled, I would then unplug it during the summer just to save wear and tear on it.

You gotta see my repair manual!

The tape should be left on all the time. It should have a thermostat in there. By the way, is this the same Norman Hart that once lived on Beech St in Manchester?
