I would like to add hardy plank strip siding to my 1984 manufctured double wide home. I have 5/8 plywood siding on it now and want to nail the hardy plank over it. My foundation is just post and pier under the girders with no concrete parimeter foundation. Would the additional weight of the siding cause a problem on the outside walls?
Thanks for your help

It sure could, the extra weight will pull down on the floor that extends past the main chassis beams. Your piers and footings will also be overloaded.
Plus, if you don't seal the new siding really well, and water gets between the new and the old...you will be getting rot and mold!

You'd probably be better off with vinyl siding. You can also add a layer of housewrap under it and improve your energy efficiency.

I would like more information concerning rot and mold when not sealed right. Is there a website for more information. Thank you
