DIY new thermostat?

Post by Karen » Mon Jun 27, 2005 8:12 am

We just moved in to a 10 yr. old MH last week & my son bought us a new digital thermostat by Honeywell @ Home Depot, but we don't know if it is compatible with a MH's heating/cooling system? I have a Coleman-Evcon furnace in the utility room & a Goodman air conditioning unit on the ground in the carport. Any recommendation would be helpful. TIA

I replaced mine with a HUNTER digital and it works fine with my "stock" heating and cooling system. I did it myself but it was a bit confuseing. Just remember to save all your paper work from it. If your furnace or air goes out the repairman will need it.

It should be just fine. Read the instructions, and make sure to note the terminal each wire is connected to on the old one, so you can connect the new one the same way. If memory serves, you'll have four wires, and terminals marked with a letter. Just use paper and pencil to note the connections before you disconnect the old one.

Thank you both for your replys...I got nervous about it & returned the thermostat to Home Depot.....didn't really need a new one, just that the original has no room temperature reading...may just buy a wall thermometer ;-)
