I have a MAJOR problem with the condensate drain on my A/C unit.
The bottom half (under the 'A' coils) stays constantly soaked.
The drain pan is a thick PVC type material (so no rust-out issue) and does not apper to have any holes.
I have replaced the condensate drain line from the pan to the 'P' trap under my home.
The problem appears to be that the unit actually pulls the water out of the pan, down inside the blwer section and the all over the now destroyed floor.
There is never more than 1/4" of water standing in the pan during unit operation and drain line is clear.
A/C Water Leak
Re: A/C Water Leak
We too had a similar problem. We found that the problem was the fins on the coils were collecting dust and lint causing the unit to sweat excessively. Where is your unit located? Ours is in the utility room which caused excessive lint build up. We did several things to rectify the problem. First we created an air tight cabinet for the unit and then sealed the intake panel in the utility room. Then we created an intake panel on the opposite wall, outside the utility room. This did the trick. The key is making sure that there is no air being drawn over the unit except through the AC filter or you will experience sweating. This is also a major fire hazard. Good luck.
Re: A/C Water Leak
Thanks for the informaation.
That was to be my next stab at this problem.
I will completely clean the 'A' coils to remove the accumulated laundry lint.
I will also move the intake into the kitchen/dining area.

Re: A/C Water Leak
TLM,
Just stumbled across your question. I have had the same problem. I have a triple wide on a basement and it was leaking into the basement.
I just had it repaired yesterday(7/18/05) Here is what was found.
Yes the dirty A-coil was part of the problem(2 dogs) this was cleaned and the entire system is much more quiet and runs less.
The water was from the condensation off the A-coil. It is suppossed to wick down to the drip pan and away thru the drain. My HVAC tech retro-fit "baffles" on the inside of the A-coil to stop the drops off water splashing around and dropping into the main duct. This is apparently a known design problem(at least for Nordyne) and the furnace manufacturer has come out with these baffles. Had to replace some duct work to...total about 155$
hope it helps
