window problems

I have a 1997 Patriot mobile home which I bought last August. Several of its windows need to be repaired. They are missing a small metal part which attaches the window to the frame. As a result, I am unable to keep them open without propping them up with a stick, and one of them is prone to falling out of the frame. A local mobile home repair person told me he was unable to locate the needed part, so the entire window will need to be replaced. Is that my only option? Is there any other way to find out how to obtain that part?

I had this problem on an older mobile home. My solution was to go to the local hardware store and by some 3/4 wide angle or some people call it L shaped aluminum and place it in front of the window against the wall. I placed a index card between the window and the aluminum and marked for holes to be drilled.
Next I drilled holes into the aluminum and the put it back up with the index card
behind it (for spacing) and attached it to the wall with 1" wood screws.
This held the window in and I can open and close them. But I do have to seal in the winter because of air leakage. It cost me less than 5 dollars a window.
