My park says my vinyl sided home needs to be washed. Is hand washing better than power spraywashing? What cleaning agents to use on a white vinyl siding?

Wow, you'd spend a week washing it by hand!

Pressure washing is fine, if you don't have a pressure washer, you can either buy one (the electrics can be had for $100) or you can pay someone to do it, usually around $50 for a single, $75 or so for a double.

Plain water is fine, 1500+ PSI of water gets pretty much anything off.

I Live in KY and I get ALOT of mildew on my siding. What I do is mix up a garden sprayer of 30% Bleach and 70% water and spray it on my siding first. Then I presure wash it off. I find it gets cleaner that way here. Be sure to check with the manufacturer to make sure this will not damage your siding. It seems to be the "norm" everybody I know does it this way with great results.

If you prefer to hand wash my wife uses windex with vinegar on the siding beside our deck and it does a good job. However it is ALOT of work and very time consuming. Either way, Good luck!

Only persons experienced in using a powerwasher should attempt this. You can do more damage than good if the pressure is too high, it may take longer but hand washing is the way to go. Tom
