I found a brand new manufactured home 1,200 sqfeet for sale. It was manufactured as a class project by the local high school students. I would like to buy it and install on a lot in my city. I am looking for advise on how to start the process and what are the necessary steps. I am assuming I need to find somebody to transport it to the desired location first. Are there specialized companies that do that? If yes, how can I find them? Would they be responsible for any damage during trasportation? Second, what deprtment in the city I have to check with in regards to the codes and things like that. Also what kind of contractor I need for the fundation? What kind of money I would be looking at?
If anybody can help, please drop me an email at [email protected]

Re: Advise needed
You would have to hire a house-mover to bring the house to your lot. A good house mover will pay for any damages that happen during the move. You'll have to pour a foundation or basement to set the house on. The city will have tons of codes for you to follow, plus you'll need permits galore -- so stop and talk to them. The cost to move and set-up the house on a foundation will probably be close to what the house cost you.

Mobile homes are manufactured according to HUD Specifications for the most part.. Make sure these courageous students followed the correct guidelines.
Also all mobile homes are suposed to have identification numbers very much like vehicles (VIN) usually provided by the manufacturerer
The town you live in may require this number in order to permit the hook up in addition to local and federal code requirements for the particular zone.

I am trying to buy a house with an FHA loan and I am being held up because we cannot find the identification numbers. The house is a 79 redman and most areas that should have the number have been remodeled. Please help
Re: Advise needed
You should go here for detailed info on this question....If you have the HUD labels you can get the seriel number here...If not this might be a tough problem....The seriel number is usually on tax records...permit records and insureance documents the original owner would have gotten...
