My mom's manufactured home in FLA needs extensive repairs from
hurricane damage. It is an old unit ('83) plus they did not keep it in good
shape.
Is it worth throwing money into such a unit or should I just replace it with new one?
Any thoughts out there? Thanks.

Re: options
It's not worth it if you think you will get the cost of the repairs back when you sell.
If zoning has changed and no longer allows manufactured homes in that area, repairing or placing a modular/site built would be your only options.
Have you gotten an estimate on the cost of the repairs? The insurance company may not even bother, and just call it a total loss instead.

Re: options
Dave, sorry to hear about your moms home.
If it were up to me, I would replace the home with new, if possible. Newer home being completed (installed) in Florida perform better due to new regulations in construction and anchoring. If you noticed on the news, most homes destroyed by the hurricances were older home, before the mid 90's.
Good Luck, I hope it works out for you and your mom.
