curing the mold problem

Post by Emily » Thu Nov 11, 2004 10:13 pm

Hello! It is almost midnight and i woke up worried about this insurance stuff with our house. I hope someone gets this before I have to talk to them again. Our attorneys sent out sn inspector of their own. Their call was just to condemn the house and get us another one. Insurance has said they want to send someone out tomorrow to try and dehumidify the house with machines. Don't y ou think this would have ben helpful within the first 48 hours? Anyway, to what extent does this help with the mold? Will it kill the mold in the insulation hidden in the walls? If not can the mold eat trough the wall eventually and can it stil be harmful hidden away?
I'm so allergic to mold I cant stay in the house over 30 minutes and I start wheezing.

The simple fact is Emily that once mold gets a foothold, behind walls, under floor, etc, you pratically have to tear the home completely apart to insure its mold free. In the case of a MH, if they did that, it would cost more than replacing it. Im not sure what game your insurance company is trying to play, other than to do this on the cheap that is, but just play the game and listen to your lawyer and dont settle until your completely happy and sure your safe. Well Tom
They came out to the house. Insurance siad they would gladly pay for it. However, they have not paid to hook uo our electrical pole or replace it yet so there is nothing they an do today. I'll keep you posted on what happens withthe attorneys.

Once the mold is behind the walls and in the framing members (studs), your in deep trouble, health wise. In order to possibly get rid of the mold is to hire a contractor how specializes in mold removal.

If not it will come back again.

I recomend getting rid of the home.
